Hawaiian mystery wrasse - Widespread West to Central Pacific. Mainly found in oceanic locations on clear coastal to outer reef slopes and walls. Usually in caves or crevices with rich invertebrate growth to at least 40m depth. Identified by the false eye-spot on the caudal peduncle and usually with thin white bars on the body. Length to 12cm.
